Fabric review and recommendation.
Tencel also known as Tencel Lyocell is semi-synthetic fabric. Tencel when produced by Australian company, Lenzing AG is an eco-friendly fabric. The fabric itself is soft, breathable and hypoallergenic - so great for people with sensitive skin. Tencel is made from sustainably sourced eucalyptus trees through a process called ‘spinning’, where the eucalyptus wood pulp is mixed with a solvent and pushed through small holes in a spinneret nozzle to create fibers. They are then treated before they’re spun into thread and made into fabric.
Since Tencel is made from sustainable eucalyptus trees and tree farms, the fabric is environmentally friendly. Tencel is made from plant materials and requires both less water and less energy than organic cotton. But, when the fabric is not produced by Lezing AG, it may not be as sustainable, as not all Lyocell is the same. Overall, Lyocell is a great fabric - both eco-friendly, soft and comfortable, but it's recommended to look for brands that use Tencel lyocell when buying.
